The history of the recipe
In 1784, Yakub Mitskevich, an apprentice of the pharmacist Karl Ivanovich Yasinsky, whose pharmacy was located in Brest-Litovsk near the Grand Hotel Bel-Vue and Nikolai's restaurants, fell in love with a beautiful young lady named Yadviga. But the girl was not in love with him in return. After a long courtship, Yadviga said that she would love Yakub after he brought a bouquet of flowers from the garden of Martsalev Nemtsevich. The inspired young man immediately hit the road.
The young man waited until darkness, and then climbed over the fence, but did not have time to pick the first flower, as Nemtsevich's servants grabbed him and took him to the palace. Marcelev was ill at that time and left because of the screams that were heard, wrapped in a warm blanket and coughing. His cough prevented him from speaking, but he still asked: “Who are you? Why have you climbed into my garden? ”. Yakub told everything, and then asked how long ago Martselev had been ill. He replied that he had recently fallen ill. Then the pharmaceutical apprentice told the recipe for a medicinal tincture on a juniper (this plant grew near the hippodrome and stud farm of Pan Nemtsevich). Yakub, together with the servants, picked juniper berries and made a healing tincture. Martselev forgave the young man, allowed him to pick a bouquet and let him go home. A couple of days later, Pan Marcelev recovered.
