Koumiss (Mare's Milk)

Where to go: Logoisk district, Gramnitsy village

What to ask the locals about: dairy horse farm

In Gromnitsy village, there is mare's milk, which, they say, is closest to mother's milk. We can't say it for sure, but we advise you to try it. The mare's milk is used to make koumiss. Take natural drinks and ask the hosts to show you the horses: Gromnitsy is the only place in Belarus where you can see such a large (360 horses) herd in natural conditions. All local horses are thoroughbred, with the breeding background of up to the fifth generation. And the horses aren't slaughtered – they are only used for dairy production.
